I am so glad I decided to look more into what a doula actually is and that I so graciously stumbled across Brigette and connected with her. “We love Brigette! I could not recommend Brigette more highly or emphatically. She supported us at the birth of our first child and also helped us for a long while postpartum. She was a calm and soothing presence for us during the birth. We planned a home birth and started labor at home, but ultimately had to transfer to the hospital. Despite the incredibly long and arduous birth process, Brigette did not leave our side, even after we gave her full permission and encouragement to do so in order that she may rest. Her resilience and constant support was invaluable and truly helped us get through what was a very challenging birth process for us. I honestly do not know what we would have done without her, but I know it would have been a lot harder and scarier if she was not there with us. Her postpartum support also blew us away. We learned so much from her in the first couple of weeks after the birth when she would help us both during the day and on overnights. It would have taken us so much longer to figure out how to notice and understand our baby’s cues, how and how long to hold him after nursing to minimize gassiness, how to swaddle him and soothe him – all the important things – if we did not have Brigette with us. And the best part was she never tried to teach us anything and was never paternal or judgmental in any way. She was just simply a perfect example for us to observe, and I swear it really minimized the already steep learning curve of first-time parenting. I cannot adequately express the gratitude I have that we were blessed to connect with Brigette and have her help and care. “We are so lucky to have found Brigette for the birth of our daughter. As a first time father, I was a little hesitant about getting a doula, but I am SO glad we did. Beforehand, Brigette provided support regarding everything, from our birth bag packing list, to the birth plan, to ways to support my partner during labor. While we were in the hospital, Brigette was a lifesaver. She gave us time together when we needed it, but didn’t leave our side when it mattered most. During labor, having Brigette in the room to help with things like pain management, nausea, etc. allowed me to focus on emotionally supporting my partner. “I am so glad we decided to hire Brigette as our birth doula for the birth of my first child. From the moment I decided to work with Brigette, I immediately felt drawn to her warmth and calm presence, as well as her personable and easy-going demeanor. Brigette eased my anxiety about the whole labor and delivery process by talking through all the stages of labor, sharing pain management techniques, and providing me with resources backed by evidence-based research. She was also incredibly supportive in helping us create our birth plan. As I had a planned medical induction at 37 weeks, Brigette had a wealth of information to share with me about my specific situation, including an induction guide which laid out evidence on methods to include the effectiveness, advantages, and disadvantages of each.
